Artist of the Month!

I cannot believe it is this late into September already! It'll be Christmas before we know it!

Being busy blogging about other bits and pieces this month, I almost forgot this months 'Artist of the Month'. This months is focusing on the work of a lovely lady I work with and have had the pleasure of representing at Black Sheep Studio & Art Gallery - Grace Page - known to us all as Gracie May Designs.

Grace is a contemporary jeweller - and also probably one of the most crafty people I know. She is always handmaking gifts and working on a new project!

Grace is based in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter. She designs and makes contemporary jewellery, inspired by abandoned and forgotten books and the fragile beauty of their words.

As a devoted collector of discarded books, Grace breathes new life into the words on their pages by immortalising them in jewellery. She uses a whole variety of techniques including etching and wax carving. She crafts delicately composed and elegant pieces of silver jewellery, each containing a unique and tantalising fragment from an unknown book.

She had some fantastic work in the new Birmingham Library which was commissioned to celebrate the 450th birthday of William Shakespeare - which you can find here.

If you want to browse her most recent work or even chat to her about a commission you want done you can find Grace at the following events:

30th October - 1st November 2015 Made By Hand City Hall, Cardiff

12-13th December 2015 Christmas Craft Market mac, Birmingham
